Buy the best juicer available - which means, buy the most expensive one. According to the juice authorities, if you want to juice, you need a juicer, not a blender. I bought the Beville Juicer Elite for $239 ($299, but used 20% off coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond thanks to my sister who has a collection of BB&B coupon.) I love it.
I also bought a book written by the Juice Lady. Reading a book written by someone more obsessed about juicing than I was inspirational. This is the book: http://www.sleepawaythepounds.com/juicing/p21.shtml
I also bought a 38" mini-trampoline because it is supposed to be good for the lymph nodes. Jumping on the mini-trampoline is called "rebounding" in the health world. My mom thinks I am stupid for buying a mini-trampoline and believing that it will be beneficial for my health. But, read here: http://www.healingdaily.com/exercise/rebounding-for-detoxification-and-health.htm. You can buy a mini-trampoline at Sports Authority in SF. (Not many stores carry mini-trampolines.)
So - it costs money to start the program I am on, however, it costs way less than partying and eating out all week long.
I prepared for the caffeine withdrawal by eliminating caffeine a week before the juice fast.
